Fumio Nakajima is an experienced lawyer and was a well-known inhouse counsel in the legal community among foreign-based financial institutions in Japan. Fumio started his legal career as a private practitioner in 1986. After a few years’ legal practice in law firms in Tokyo and studying in a U.S. law school, he joined Salomon Brothers Japan as in-housel counsel, and since then he continued to work as in-housel counsel for several global financial institutions such as Morgan Stanley until he retired from the head of Legal, Japan with BNP Paribas, a prestigious French Bank in June 2023. Fumio had handled a wide range of legal issues faced by his employers and has in-depth expertise and extensive experience in financial regulations in Japan. In March 2024, Fumio resumed his external counsel career by joining Miyakezaka Sogo Law Offices as Of Counsel. He will serve to the firm’s clients with not only his specialized expertise but also his knowledge and experience as a seasoned lawyer and his language skillset.
